Effective 4 August 2026, international travel requires either a new-format Greek ID card (for destinations where a national ID card is accepted as valid travel document) that has been issued from 25/9/2023 onwards or a valid Greek passport.

Important Notice: Timely arrival at Athens International Airport for extra Schengen flights.

As of Monday, March 30, the new EU entry/exit systems comes into effect, thus passengers travelling to Extra Schengen countries are advised to arrive at Athens International Airport at least two hours prior to flight departure to allow sufficient time for check-in, security screening, and passport control.
