Prepaid Εxcess Βaggage Τhrough Amadeus/Sabre/Travelport
Excess baggage is considered to be each physical piece exceeding the free baggage allowance as shown on the passenger’s ticket.
- Extra pieces of baggage over the free baggage allowance can be prepaid.
- The maximum piece baggage allowance is 5 baggage per passenger.
- The maximum weight baggage allowance is 32kg. Bags exceeding 32kg will have to be shipped as cargo.
- Special baggage such as sports equipment may be prepaid with limitations*. This kind of baggage should have prior confirmation upon request to A3.
- Excess baggage can be prepaid for tickets issued on:A3 stock (390) and A3 operating flights**
Type of Passenger Tickets
- All passenger type codes (ADT, CHD, etc), except infants.
- Individual and Group PNRs
- Published and IT ticket fares

**Prepaid excess baggage will be issued on EMD-A and since EMD is not yet interlineable, prepaid excess baggage cannot be issued for other airline stock and other airline flights. In case of interline itinerary, Resolution 302 applies and paper XSB ticket must be issued prior flight departure by A3 staff.
Charges for Prepaid Excess Baggage
Prices have been filed through ATPCO in order for prepaid excess baggage to be automatically priced through the Airline Ancillary Services (AAS) solution and issued as EMD-A.

Important Notes: Exception routes are not eligible for GATE baggage payment The excess charges for itineraries from/to RUH/JED from/to
GR/INT for direct and connecting with or without stopover flights will be the same with all other routes (per piece).
Even if the FBA will be 1PC 30 kilos in economy and 2PC 20 kilos each in business, the excess baggage policy/charges will be as for all other routes.
- Charges apply for each piece regardless how many total pieces are purchased.
- Excess Baggage EMDs are non-refundable for voluntary cases. Excess Baggage EMD is voidable only within the same day of issuance.
- Excess baggage can be full refunded in case of lost baggage.
- If a passenger has issued and EMD-A for more than one excess baggage and decides to use part of the extra baggage bought, the unused pieces will remain non-refundable.
For example: passenger has bought 3 pieces in excess and now wants to fly with 2 pieces only. Excess baggage can be refunded in full for all involuntary cases and for lost baggage. - Travel Agencies will only be able to display EMDs issued in their agency. Travel agencies are not able to display an EMD issued by A3 or by a different travel agency.
- The prepaid baggage EMD is valid for one year from the date of issue.
- If EMD-A has been issued for a specific route and passenger wants to use only ticket, in order to use EMD-A for different than issued date/flight for same route, then this EMD-A should be disassociated from original ticket. Association/disassociation is done by A3 Travel Agency help desk.
- In case of schedule change no actions in regards of prepaid EMD-A are required by travel agencies:
EMD-A will remain associated to original ticket in case of involuntary revalidation by A3 upon travel agent request to A3 help desk
EMD-A will be associated to a new ticket in case of involuntary reissue by A3 upon travel agent request to A3 help desk
EMD-A will be reissued in case of involuntary rerouting by A3 upon travel agent request to A3 help desk.
