What is a DEPA or DEPU deportee?

A deportee is a passenger transported under the instruction of the relevant authorities.

There are two categories:

  • DEPA – Accompanied deportee
  • DEPU – Unaccompanied deportee

To request carriage for a deportee, travel agents must add the DEPA/DEPU designation and SSR to the booking, submit the required Security Form through AEGEAN Hub 3 working days to 2 months before travel, and obtain Security Department clearance.

Key requirements

  • Add DEPA or DEPU after the passenger's name when creating the booking.
  • Add the appropriate SSR DEPA/DEPU with status NN and the reason for deportation.
  • The relevant authorities must complete the required Security Form.
  • Submit the completed form through AEGEAN Hub → DEPA/DEPU at least 3 working days and no more than 2 months before travel.
  • Carriage is subject to AEGEAN Security Department clearance.
  • The number of deportees accepted on each flight is determined by the AEGEAN Security Department.

How do I request carriage for a deportee?

1. How do I create a booking?

Add DEPA or DEPU after the passenger's name.

GDS example: NM1VLACHOU/MARIA DEPA

SPRK (F1):

2. What SSR is required for a deportee?

Enter SSR DEPA or DEPU with status NN and include:

  • Reason for deportation
  • Relevant travel-document information

Example: SR DEPA-ILLEGAL STAY

3. What information do I add to PNR (only for 1A)?

Use RM remarks or another appropriate PNR note to provide information required for the Security Department's assessment.

Where applicable, include:

  • Escort's name – for DEPA
  • Reason for deportation
  • Disruptive or violent behaviour
  • Relevant health information
  • Risk assessment: Low / Medium / High
4. When must the Security Form be submitted?

The relevant authorities must complete the DEPORTEE – SECURITY RISK EVALUATION FORM.

Submit it through AEGEAN Hub → DEPA/DEPU: at least 3 working days and ≤ 2 months before travel

5. How is deportee carriage approved?

AEGEAN will respond through the SSR:

  • KK/HK – Carriage approved
  • HK – Carriage approved
  • UC – Carriage not approved

Do not consider carriage approved until Security Department clearance has been received.

When Carriage May Be Refused

AEGEAN reserves the right to refuse carriage if the deportee:

  • May cause discomfort to other passengers or jeopardize flight safety
  • Has not been handled according to AEGEAN procedures
  • Is under the influence of drugs, unless a medical certificate is provided

If the SSR Was Not Added

If the DEPA/DEPU SSR was not entered when the PNR was created, add the appropriate SSR to the booking as soon as possible.

AEGEAN will review the request and respond through the SSR status.
