Distribution Channel Fee (DCF) for Global Distribution Systems (GDS)

1. Introduction
AEGEAN introduced a Distribution Channel Fee (DCF) on January 1st, 2021.
With effect from February 19th, 2024 the fee will be 10EUR per segment for all tickets issued through the GDS of Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport.
Unconstrained content without the DCF will be available through:
- AEGEAN direct connect channels for Online/Offline Travel Agencies and Tour Operators
- AEGEAN official Website: www.aegeanair.com
- AEGEAN mobile apps
- ATOs/CTOs and Call Centre
- Light, Family and Business Basic Fare Families will not be available through GDSs
2. Charging Scheme
- Since January 1st, 2021 (date of ticket issuance), the DCF is applicable per marketed segment on all bookings ticketed through a GDS.
- The charge applied per A3 marketed segment is 10 EUR (readjusted to EUR 10.00 from February 19th, 2024) and is collected under the tax code “YR”. GDSs process this charge automatically during pricing and it is included in BSP & ARC reporting and settlement.
- The DCF is filed in EUR and may be converted into the applicable local currency using the prevailing exchange rates.
- There are no discounts on the DCF amount (i.e. same amount applies to adult and child tickets) and it is not applicable to infant tickets.
- The charge is applicable to all markets.
- The DCF is applicable only to first issues and in case of reissue/exchange no additional DCF will be collected, as long as the number of segments is equal or less than the original ticket.
- The DCF is applicable to all cabins and classes.
- For Group PNRs ticketed by GDSs, the DCF needs to be collected manually in the stored ticket mask (if automated pricing is not available).
3. Changes in the Distribution Channel Fee
The DCF will be reviewed periodically and this may result in changes to the applicable amount. From February 19th, 2024, the DCF charge has been readjusted to EUR 10.00 per A3 marketed segment.
4. Exceptions
The DCF is exempt if the booking is created through AEGEAN direct connect channels. Also, the DCF is applicable only to tickets and not to EMDs or other documents until further notice.
5. Refunds
The DCF is aligned with the fare rules of the fare. In cases where the fare is refundable, the DCF is also refundable.
6. Ticketed PNRs originally created in GDSs and further handled by AEGEAN’s channels
If a ticket is issued from a GDS, then the DCF will apply even if servicing is done through AEGEAN channels.
7. Audit
- An ADM following the AEGEAN Administration Fee policy will be raised, whenever a DCF is manually deleted or it is not collected properly.
- An ADM following the AEGEAN Administration Fee policy will be raised, for tickets having ‘Light’ Fares and issued through GDSs, collecting the difference with the applicable FLEX fares.
- In case of non-compliance, AEGEAN reserves the right to restrict agency access to airline content.
8. Direct connect channels
Please find below the available direct connect options:
- Online Travel agencies can connect directly to AEGEAN via an XML-API link powered by Farelogix using NDC 17.2 schema and Sales can be either settled through BSP/ARC or Airline Stock.
- Offline Travel agencies can connect directly to AEGEAN via Farelogix’s SPRK and Sales can be either settled through BSP/ARC or Airline Stock.
- Tour Operators can connect directly to AEGEAN via Quintessence.

What is the level of DCF?
The DCF level is 10 EUR per AEGEAN marketed segment and applies to all points of sale effective from February 19th, 2024.
How and when will the DCF apply?
- Effective for ticketing since January 1st, 2021 onwards, the DCF is applicable per segment, whenever AEGEAN Airlines participates as a marketing carrier in the itinerary. It applies worldwide to all fares, cabins and classes.
i.e.
- One-way ATH-LON (1 marketed segment): DCF applies once (x1)
- One-way FRA-x/ATH-JTR (2 marketed segments): DCF applies twice (x2)
- Round trip ATH-LON-ATH (2 marketed segments): DCF applies twice (x2)
- Round trip FRA-x/ATH-JTR-x/ATH-FRA (4 marketed segments):
DCF applies 4 times (x4)
- Open Jaw PAR–ATH // HER–PAR (2 marketed segments): DCF applies twice (x2)
How is the DCF be collected?
The DCF is filed by using the “YR” tax code and will be priced automatically during fare quotation by GDSs. It will be collected at time of ticketing.
Exceptions
a. Tickets issued by:
- AEGEAN's direct sales channels (Websites, Call Centre, Airport/City Ticket Offices).
- AEGEAN's direct connects through Farelogix NDC-XML/API (Online Travel Agencies).
- AEGEAN's direct connects through Farelogix SPRK (Offline Travel Agencies).
- Travel Agencies using the services of an intermediary IT Provider or an Aggregator having a direct connect with AEGEAN.
- Tour Operators connected directly to AEGEAN through Quintessence.
b. Other exceptions:
- Infants without a seat.
- Some markets may be exempt from the DCF for regulatory reasons, where applicable.
Is this channel fee a common practice in the industry?
Yes, similar fees are implemented by multiple airlines around the world.
How can I avoid the Distribution Channel Fee (DCF)?
The DCF is calculated on bookings created via GDS channels. Bookings created in the direct connect channel do not incur the DCF. Travel Agents may use a direct connect through Farelogix or an Aggregator/IT provider to avoid the DCF and additionally benefit from complete airline content.
How to connect to AEGEAN through a direct connection?
For an NDC-XML/API, interested Online Travel Agencies should contact AEGEAN sales representatives for further information. The required timeframe to complete an implementation is linked to available resources and it usually takes several weeks to complete the necessary certifications.

Reissues - Examples:
- Tickets having 1 segment (DCF x1), reissued to tickets with 2 segments:
one additional DCF should be collected - Tickets having 2 segments (DCF x2), reissued to tickets with 1 segment:

- Reissue/Exchange for unused Light tickets, will be only possible through Direct Channels (CC/Web).
- Reissue/Exchange for partially used Light tickets, will be possible through GDS as well (historical pricing).
Does the DCF apply on CBBG tickets as well?
Yes, the DCF applies whenever AEGEAN Airlines participates as a marketing carrier in the itinerary, including CBBG tickets.
