Important Notes
- Medical documents should only be sent to the relevant department for approval if the travel date is within the next 7 days and not before.

- Please ensure that all areas of the Medical Information Form (MEDIF) are completed by the passenger’s attending physician giving detailed information concerning the passenger’s condition.
Definition
Sitting sick is a medical case, where the passenger can sit in an upright position, however, due to clinical or health reasons, medical clearance must be granted from our Medical Service Company. The Medical Information Form (MEDIF) must be completed by the attending physician and it should contain detailed information concerning the passenger’s condition.
Booking procedure in PNR
- Create a PNR for the patient and escort/s in any available class.
- Insert an SSR using the NN status by requesting a special service (SR MEDA-SITTING SICK and the patient’s diagnosis) and associate it with either the patient or the air segment (depends on which GDS you are using), but not with the escort/s.
- Aegean will respond according to the SSR status (HK or UC), accompanied, if required, by a corresponding SSR which will contain the correct information. If you haven’t followed these instructions when you created the PNR, you should insert a new SSR.
- Aegean will then follow the same procedure to respond to you.
- You must send the Medical Information Form (MEDIF) via AEGEAN hub in the category MEDA.
Conditions:
- Always make sure that all areas of the MEDIF are completed by the passenger’s attending physician providing detailed information concerning the passenger’s condition.
- If a serious deterioration of the passenger’s condition occurs between time of medical clearance and the actual flight, new clearance must be requested.
- In the case of a broken leg where the passenger is unable to bend a knee, stretcher must be booked.
- If the case is following a surgery or a stroke, then the date that the operation/incident happened is required.
- Medical clearance is only valid for the flight and date specified on the MEDIF.
- Medical documents should only be sent to the relevant department for approval if the travel date is within the next 7 days and not before.
- Persons under 16 years of age do not qualify as escorts.
- If the passenger needs to be taken to hospital on arrival at destination, ambulance details (company & phone number) are required. Ambulance details are also required for connecting flights, for example SKG-ATH-MUC. Ambulance details are required for ATH airport as well.
