*Dimensions
- A320 aircraft : cabin bag 8kgs 56x45x25cm
- DH8 / ATR aircraft : cabin bag 8kgs 55x40x23cm
- For the checked baggage piece, the total of the three dimensions must not exceed 158cm ( L + W + H = max 158cm)
Notes:
- Free Baggage Allowance applies per fare component.
- Infants (0-2 years old) are entitled to one carry on up to 6kg plus and a foldable stroller (to be deliver on hold) in Light, Flex & Family fare family. In ComfortFlex & Business class fare family, infants are entitled to one carry on up to 6kg plus, one check-in baggage (up 23kg and 158 cm in Economy ComfortFlex and up to 32 kg and 158 cm. in Business class) as well as a foldable stroller.
- Miles+Bonus Gold Members and Gold Members of the other Star Alliance companies retain the right to carry free of charge one additional piece of baggage, regardless of the fare family they are travelling with (32kg in Business and 23kg in Economy Class).
- Gold Miles+Bonus members are entitled to one additional piece of baggage as per compartment booked, free of charge when travelling on an award ticket.
Combinability: For routings where business class is not configured (i.e. ATH-JTR) and passenger cannot be given the possibility of flying in business all the way, there will be more options for through business fares (as domestic sector will be in Y/class, but will have the rules of business) In such cases, 2PC free baggage allowance rule will be shown in the ticket.
For End on End combinations, Free Baggage Allowance will be always the same, as End on End is permitted only in fare families with same Free Baggage Allowance.
Passengers with two tickets for connecting flights.
If passenger proceeds at the airport with two tickets within 24 hours.
For example:
One ticket: ATH-SKG in ComfortFlex with 1PC
One ticket: SKG-MXP in Light with 0PC
Rules of each ticket should be applied.
So if passenger has one piece for both flights, for ATH-SKG will not be charged, but for SKG-MXP will be charged according to Excess Baggage policy (as second ticket is issue in the fare category without free baggage allowance).
Same procedure should be followed in case of tickets with different carriers within 24 hours.
Excess, Weight and Other Baggage Charges
You can pre-pay excess weight charges via the A3 website or mobile site or call center as per the charges below:
Notice:
- If prepaying additional weight or additional pieces of luggage separately through our call center, there is an additional charge of 8 EUROs per passenger.
- Maximum weight for checked in baggage is restricted to 32 kg. Any piece exceeding 32 kg should be sent as cargo.

PREPAID CHARGES *** UP TO 2 HOURS BEFORE SCHEDULED DEPARTURE ***
Important Notes:
- Charges apply for each piece regardless how many total pieces are purchased.
- RESOLUTION 302 applies for interline cases
- Exception routes are not eligible for GATE baggage payment
Exceptionally, for code share flights between A3 and SQ/EY, MSC will remain the operating carrier. - For Light fare families, where No Free Baggage Allowance exists, passenger will be charged from the 1st piece.
Important Notice:
- In case of a ticket with End on End or connecting flights (within 24 hours where passenger will be checked up to the final destination), in order to clarify if the travel is Short/Long or Exception and take the correct charge, the charge will be according to the most restricted (which is actually and the longest route).
Excess Baggage and Overweight Charges for Interline Tickets in Long Haul Itineraries
Piece Concept: Excess Baggage Charges Intercontinental
A. For Interline tickets with A3/OA and other airlines for any Intercontinental outside Europe and within same region where A3/OA is the Most Significant Carrier
Economy
- max 23kg/ max 158cm: 1st Piece is Free
- Over 23-32kg max 158cm (overweight): 100EUR/150USD
2nd piece and over: - max 23kg/ max 158cm: 150EUR/200USD
- Over 23-32kg max 158cm (overweight): 250EUR/350USD
Business & First Class :
- max 32kg/ max 158cm: 2 pieces Free
3rd piece and over: 150EUR/200USD
B. Special charges for excess baggage for travel from/to USA/Canada/Mexico/Central America * and Japan (only for economy) **
- 2nd piece and over 90EUR/100USD
Notes
For Business class check "A"
* Central America= Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama
** Special charges= Only for economy and only for extra piece
-
1st Example:
Scenario a: ATH-CAI with A3 / CAI-JNB with MS
Free Baggage Allowance as per ticket: 1PC
Passenger has two pieces
First one (according to ticket) is free.
For the second baggage the excess baggage charges should apply (150 EUR / 200 USD)
Scenario b:
Passenger travels in economy and has two pieces. Both are overweight (25kg each)
For the first baggage: The overweight charge 100 EUR/150 USD
For the second baggage: The excess baggage charge for “over 23-32kg”): 250 EUR/350 USD
Total charge: 350 EUR / 400 USD
- 2nd Example: SKG-ATH with A3 / ATH-FRA with LH / FRA-EWR with LH / EWR-MUC with LH /MUC-ATH with LH
Passenger travels in economy class with three baggage’s (22 kilos each)
As per U.S DoT, excess baggage charges are according with A3 policy (first marketing carrier) for both directions.
First baggage as per table “B” is free.
A3 should issue one EBT for SKG-ATH-FRA-EWR with 150€/200USD (75€ per each extra piece as per table B)
For the inbound travel, LH will charge for EWR-MUC-ATH a document with the same charges as above (as A3 is still the MSC)
- 3rd Example: ATH-LON with A3/ LON-SIN with SQ
In this example, MSC is the SQ, so A3 ticketing airport office agent, will issue an EBT for ATH-LON-SIN according with SQ’s charges for excess baggage
- 4th Example: ATH-FRA with LH / FRA-ADD with A3 marketing/ET operating
Passenger has two pieces of baggage.
The first within the free baggage allowance (21kg)
The second is excess and is 29kg
In this example A3 is the MSC, as the first marketing carrier who changes subarea
First piece is free.
LH agent will issue an EBT for ATH-FRA-ADD according with A3 charges for the excess that is over 23kg 250 EUR / 350 USD.
- 5th Example: Itinerary with separate tickets: SKG-ATH with A3 / ATH-FRA with LH /FRA-EWR with DL
Passenger holds two tickets: One SKG-ATH with A3 with Light / Flex fare (Free Baggage Allowance 0PC)
and one ATH-FRA-EWR with LH and DL (Free baggage allowance 1PC)
Agent should check the baggage allowance of each ticket
Passenger has three pieces of baggage SKG-ATH A3 ticket
Agent should charge passenger with excess baggage charges for three pieces (as per A3 charges)
And issues EMD-A for FBAG
For ATH-FRA-EWR
If agent will check passenger and baggage’s through (up to EWR), will have to check according to U.S DoT who is the responsible carrier for excess baggage charges in the second ticket.
In this scenario is LH.
Agent will issue a paper EBT with the charges of LH.
Otherwise, agent can check passenger only for SKG-ATH ticket and issue the EMD-A with A3 charges only for the first ticket.
In such case, passenger will have to proceed in LH Athens check in office for the second ticket (check in and excess baggage charges)
- 6th Example: Itinerary within Europe, travel date 20JUL: SKG-ATH with A3 operating / ATH-FRA with A3 operating / FRA-AMS with LH operating
Baggage allowance as per ticket: 1PC
Passenger holds two pieces.
According to Resolution 302, MSC in this ticket is A3 (first marketing carrier that changes country)
A3 for the one extra piece, will charge passenger for SKG-AMS with A3 charges for FRA (not with exception routes charges, as the ATH-FRA is not code share, but operating)
So the charge will be High International Short: 35.00 EUR
But if the itinerary is: SKG-ATH with A3 operating / ATH-FRA with A3 marketing/LH operating FRA-AMS with LH operating
Where again A3 is the MSC (first marketing carrier that changes country)
A3 will charge passenger for the extra piece with the charges of exception routes, as ATH-FRA now is not A3 operating, but code share (as code share scenarios are included in exception routes)
So the charge will be Exception routes: 70 EUR
A3 EXCESS RATES FOR ALL OTHER DESTINATIONS, WHEN A3 IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CARRIER
For all cases, where according to IATA Resolution 302 and U.S DoT, A3 is the most significant carrier and agent will have to follow A3 policy for Free Baggage Allowance and excess baggage rates.
Agent will follow the policy and excess baggage rates according to the A3 flight sector.
For code share flights between A3 and SQ/EY, MSC will remain the operating carrier.
Example: ATH-FRA A3 flight in ComfortFlex fare / FRA-NYC LH flight in ComfortFlex fare
According to U.S DoT, in the above example, A3 is the most significant carrier.
Free Baggage Allowance, according to A3 policy, will be 1PC up to 23 kg.
Agent will check baggage up to the final destination (from the moment that there is an Interline agreement, between A3 and the other airline).
If passenger has extra baggage with him, agent will charge him to the final destination (NYC), according to excess baggage rates for International routes in existing pricing policy (as first sector is ATH-FRA) for airport charges.
Tickets issued with wrong Free Baggage Allowance
If a passenger arrives at check in with a ticket that has been issued with weight concept as Free Baggage Allowance instead of Piece concept, agent should check passenger with A3 policy for free baggage allowance.
As A3 Free Baggage Allowance is Piece concept, agent will take the weight concept of the ticket as 1PC.
For economy fares:
- In case passenger has more than one baggage, travel agent will follow A3 policy for excess rates
- In case passenger has a baggage with more than 23 kg, travel agent will follow A3 policy for excess rates.
For Business fares:
- In case passenger has more than two pieces of baggage , travel agent will follow A3 policy for excess rates.
Tickets issued with correct fare basis, but travel agent has updated the Free Baggage Allowance manually
For first issue and reissue cases
In case of an agent update to the Free Baggage Allowance, there is no change in the pricing record (FCMI) and ticket/pricing is still shown as automated.
If an agent notices the ticket is in Light/Flex, but the FBA instead of 0PC is any other allowance (i.e 1PC, 2PC, 20K, etc.), should not proceed with any change/update in the ticket.
Agent should inform passenger that for any change, he should contact the travel agent.
Please be informed that for these cases, travel agents will be notified from sales colleagues and ADM (debits) will be sent from Revenue Accounting.
Ticket issued with A3 and Other Airline with different FBA
If passenger holds a ticket with A3 and Other airline for one direction, where other airline has a different Free Baggage Allowance than A3, agent will check passenger up to the final destination according to RESO 302 or U.S DoT.
Exceptionally, for code share flights between A3 and SQ/EY, MSC will remain the operating carrier.
In the case passenger requests to check their ticket and their luggage only up to the connecting point or in the case passenger has a stopover, agent will check passenger only for A3 flight according to A3 baggage policy.
In the case of another airline being the most significant carrier and has allowed any weight to be waived at the airport check in, A3 will not accept the extra kilos free of charge and will check passenger and baggage according to the Free Baggage Allowance of the ticket.
Example:
Ticket:
SKG-MXP with A3 (FBA: 1PC)
MXP-EWR with LH (FBA: 2PC)
A3 is the most significant carrier according to U.S DoT and will check passenger and baggage with A3 policy, so 1PC up to the final destination.
SKG-LCA with A3 (FBA: 1PC) 20JUN
LCA-LIS with TP (FBA: 0PC) 22JUN
As passenger has a stop in LCA, A3 will check baggage up to LCA with Free Baggage Allowance 1PC
And other airline (TP) will check passenger again in LCA with her Free Baggage Allowance (in this case TP with 0PC)
SKG-ATH with A3 (FBA:1PC)
ATH-DOH-MEL with QR (FBA 23 kg)
QR accept free of charge up to 30 kg (airport tolerance 7kg)
Most significant carrier is QR according to Reso 302
A3 will check passenger and baggage with the Free Baggage Allowance of the ticket, which in this case are 23 kg.
If passenger has extra kilos (example total 28kg), A3 will charge passenger for the overweight (5kg extra) according to QR policy/charges for excess baggage.
In no way, A3 should accept the airport tolerance of 7 kg, as this is not the policy.
Remarks:
- The new policy applies exclusively to flights operated by Aegean. Itineraries that other airlines included or on flights operated in cooperation with other airlines, the charges may differ. For more information, please contact the validating carrier
- All excess baggage services (F
- BAG, FBAC, FBGS, FBGC) are non-refundable.
Exceptions
Excess baggage can be refunded in full for:
- all involuntary cases.
- lost baggage.
- excess baggage issued on/before 05th March 2013, can be refunded in full.
- Payment for additional bags through Aegean's website is not possible for infants. Payment of charges for additional bags may only be made through the company's call center or through the ticket counters at the airport (see charges listed above).
- The maximum amount of Baggage that a customer can present at the airport for check-in is limited to 5 pieces.
- Baggage prepayment is restricted and cannot be offered within two (2) hours before the flight departure.
Special Baggage
Carriage of Musical Instruments
Aegean Airlines provides to passengers, the opportunity to travel with their musical instrument - which must be carried in a secure, hard case. The instrument may be checked in to be transported in the hold, or taken with passenger on board the plane. When passengers check in, the instrument will be asked to sign a Limited Release Form, in which they agree that the musical instrument is being carried entirely at their own liability.
If you wish to take the instrument with you into the cabin of the plane, it will be counted as hand baggage. Its dimensions must not exceed 56 cm in height x 45 cm in length x 25 cm in width, and it must not weigh more than 8kg.
If the instrument exceeds these limits then an extra seat must be reserved, in the same fare base/fare family with the passenger. The extra seat may be either Economy (only for Flex, Family & ComfortFlex fares) or Business class and no taxes are charged except YQ/YR. The dimensions must be:
Maximum dimensions for A320 Family aircraft:

- 110cm Height x 60cm Length x 42cm Width (from seat)
Maximum dimensions for DASH8-100, DASH8-400 and AT7(ATR):
- 135cm Height x 40cm Length x 28cm Width (from cabin floor)
- 90cm Height x 40cm Length x 50cm Width (from seat)

Attention:
Sports equipment does not have to include all the items mentioned in the above list. Even if the passenger travels with one item only of the sports equipment, the charge will still be applied as per table.
Example:
A passenger with a ComfortFlex ticket, travels with one checked baggage and one bag containing one pair of ski boots
The charge for the boots will be as per SKI equipment and charged (50 EUR)
The charge is not per bag, but per sports equipment (per SSR request).
A passenger is not allowed to carry more than 5 pieces in total (baggage & equipment in total)
Example:
A passenger travels with one SKI equipment in two bags (one bag with one pair of skis and one pair of ski poles and one bag with a helmet and one pair of boots)
The charge will be for one equipment (even if two bags are being used).
[1] Golf Equipment
Golf equipment transportation is chargeable from the 1st set.
Golf equipment carriage for Aegean Miles +Bonus FFP Gold members is in all cases free of charge.
Charges Summary table for GOLF
All domestic routes | All international routes |
---|---|
All domestic routes 35 EUR |
All international routes 45 EUR |
[2] A passenger’s scuba diving equipment may be accepted as checked baggage provided the air or oxygen supply bottles (included spare bottles) are completely empty. The passenger will be requested to demonstrate this at check-in by opening the valve, to show the check in agent it is empty.
Check-in agents must check the pressure shown on the valve, to confirm that the tanks are empty. .
Engine driven compressors used for filling air bottles must not be carried as baggage
Interlining to/from Star Alliance partners is possible.
[3] The first piece of checked ski equipment, snowboard or waterskis is included in the free baggage allowance regulations on all flights and is therefore free of charge (but always according to free baggage allowance of the respective fare family).
This means that for a passenger with a Light/Flex ticket, this equipment is not free and will be charged according to the List of Sport Equipment table.
A passenger with a ComfortFlex ticket (Free Baggage Allowance 1PC), travelling with 1 baggage (1PC), equipment is not free and should be charged. But travelling without baggage, the equipment will be free of charge (as will be within the Free Baggage Allowance)
A passenger with a business class ticket (Free Baggage Allowance 2PC), travelling with 1 baggage (1PC), the equipment is free (as the second free piece)
Same rule applies in routes with weight concept baggage allowance (if baggage plus the equipment is within the free baggage weight, it will be free of charge, if not, there will be charges as per the List of Sports Equipment table)
1st Example:
Passenger with a Light/Flex ticket (FBA: 0PC) with a SKI equipment
As there is no Free Baggage Allowance on the ticket, the passenger will be charged for the SKI as per table above
2nd Example:
Passenger with a ComfortFlex ticket (Free Baggage Allowance : 1PC) that has also one baggage and a snowboard
As the Free Baggage Allowance is 1PC and passenger has also a baggage, he/she will be charged for the SKI as per table above 6.1
3rd Example:
Frequent flyer gold member with a ComfortFlex ticket (Free Baggage Allowance :1PC plus 1PC free as gold member) with a snowboard
As the FBA is 1PC plus 1PC free and passenger has one baggage, the snowboard will be free of charge (as the second baggage that gold member is eligible to have free of charge)
[4] Weapons used for sport or hunting must be declared and are then only charged for if they are transported in a separate weapons case.
Attention:
Weapons are not permitted to transfer as checked baggage.
The passenger must be well informed that the weapon must be presented at check in in a separate case.
Weapons or ammunition with explosive or incendiary projectiles may not be carried as checked baggage.
Military weapons must not be carried as checked baggage.
Any arms and ammunition which are permitted for transportation must be checked-in and carried in the hold; carriage in the cabin is not permitted.
Arms of police officers and body guards and civilians holding a gun licence for personal protection are not charged.
Swords belonging to army officers are not charged.
WEAP procedure at LCA airport:
For flights from Cyprus there is an extra fee of 25EUR which will be paid before departure.
WEAP procedure at ZRH airport:
- Customers must first present themselves in Check in hall 2 and have their weapon and ammunition weighed and tagged respectively at the Aegean baggage drop off desk.
- If a payment for the weapon carriage is required, the customers should go to the ticketing desk, located just opposite the baggage drop off desks, in order to settle it.
- Afterwards the customers should go to the airport’s bulky items desk (oversized items) located approximately 5 meters further along where the airport staff will escort them to the designated airport checkpoint in Check in Hall 1.
- Upon arriving at the airport’s checkpoint, the customers will have their weapon, ammunition and separate packaging checked. A fee of 55 CHF to cover the airport inspection must be paid in situ using a credit card.
- When the checks have been concluded, the airport staff will escort the customers and the weapon and ammunition to customs. Their license check will be performed there.
- When the license check is concluded and everything has been found to be in order, the customs officers will collect the containers with the weapon and ammunition and deliver these to the baggage sorting area for aircraft loading
The packaging should be in plastic containers (weapon and ammunition separated)
Disabled passengers (PRM) are allowed to transport two items of mobility equipment without additional charge.
Mobility equipment which can be used for sports is free of charge as well (up to two pieces total).
If the sports equipment is not mobility equipment then the general rules for the transport of sports equipment also apply for disabled passengers.
- 1st Example:
PRM travels with one wheelchair plus one as sports equipment (mobility equipment). Both will be transferred free of charge.
- 2nd Example:
PRM travels with one wheelchair plus one fishing equipment. The wheelchair is free of charge, but the fishing equipment will be charged as per list of sport equipment.
Note: On journeys involving a transatlantic flight and on flights operated in cooperation with other airlines, the charges may differ.
IATA & SPORTS EQUIPMENT services
In the past, only baggage was part of the resolution 302/US DoT/Canadian Agency of Transportation. Sports equipment services were not in scope of ABR302 resulting in each airline following its own policy/charges.
As per IATA’s latest notification, if Sports equipment services are filed by the carrier as part of the baggage provisions under Category –C, they are now subject to ABR 302 and US DoT requirements
Different approaches for Sports equipment services in interline scenarios have been adopted from A3/OA based on bilateral agreements in place.
Approaches in place:
- A3/OA has bilaterally agreed with LHG (LH, LX, and OS), that in an interline scenario, for any special service (Sports equipment included) it will follow the Most Significant Carrier Resolution 302 and for North America the U.S DoT (same as baggage policy).
Action: The agent shall issue one document for all flights for any special service from origin up to the next baggage check in point.
The charges will be as per marketing carrier from the origin to the next baggage check in point (and always per ticket).
Detailed instructions in paragraph 1) Policy for A3/OA with LHG (LH/OS/LX)-ANY special service
- A3/OA after communications have bilaterally concurred with several IET partners, Sports equipment charges in interline scenarios will follow the same rule as baggage policy.
So, since sports equipment is considered to be part of the baggage provision, it is subject to 302 and US DoT requirement.
Action: based on the table below the agent shall issue either paper EBT or virtual XSB/MD10
Detailed instructions as per paragraph 2) Policy of A3/OA & specific OAL partners ONLY for Sports Equipment services (SPEQ) – based on ABR302
- If the IET scenario includes ANY other IET partner (excluding LHG or the airlines reflected in the table below) and Sports equipment carriage is required, then each carrier’s charges/policy shall apply.
Action: The agent shall charge the passenger for each carrier based on its own charge/policy for its own flight/service.
Detailed instructions as per paragraph 3) Policy between A3/OA & OAL
Policy for A3/OA with LHG (LH/OS/LX)-ANY special service
An agreement is in place for any special service (SPEQ/PETC/AVIH/UMNR/MAAS) between A3/OA and LHG (LH, LX, and OS)
In a ticket where A3/OA flights and any LHG carrier is involved, any special services charges shall be based on the Most Significant Carrier Resolution 302 and for North America the U.S DoT (same as baggage policy).
The charges will be as per marketing carrier from the origin to the next baggage check in point (always per ticket)
A3/OA agent shall issue one single document for all flights from origin up to the next baggage check in point.
- 1st example:
One ticket- SPEQ service
20 MAY ATH-FRA with A3 operating
20 MAY FRA-ZRH with LH
As per resolution 302, the first marketing carrier that changes country is A3 Charge for SPEQ will be as per A3 policy from ATH to ZRH.
- 2nd Example:
One ticket-SPEQ service
21 MAY ATH-ZRH with A3 marketing/LX operating
24 MAY ZRH-SIN with LH marketing/ LX operating
In this case LX will charge the passenger for ATH-ZRH only, as the next flight is in 3 days time
On 24th May, the passenger will be charged by LX for ZRH-SIN
- 3rd Example:
One ticket- SPEQ service
27 MAY SKG-ATH with A3 marketing/OA operating
27 MAY ATH-FRA- with LH operating
27 MAY FRA-EWR with LH operating
As per U.S DoT the first marketing carrier on the ticket is A3, so the charges will be based on A3 policy from SKG-EWR
- 4th Example:
Two tickets- SPEQ service
First ticket: 30MAY ATH-FRA with A3 operating
30MAY FRA-TLV with LH operating
01JUN TLV-IST with A3 operating
Second ticket: 01JUN IST-LCA with A3 operating
In this case there are two tickets in place:
For ticket 1: the A3 agent will charge the passenger from ATH-TLV (as the airlines on the two first flights have a common policy for special services)
MSMC is LH (the first marketing carrier that changes subarea), so the A3 agent will charge the passenger with LH charges for SPEQ
The agent will issue one virtual XSB/MD10
The 1st ticket has another flight two days later and as a result separate check in is required
For ticket 2 there is one flight for the same date as the last coupon of ticket 1 and both flights are A3 operated.
The check in agent shall proceed with through check in but the charge for SPEQ shall be applied per ticket.
One SPEQ charge for the 1st ticket for the flight TLV-IST and a separate SPEQ charge for the 2nd ticket for the flight IST-LCA
The agent should issue two EMD-As, a separate one for each ticket
Policy of A3/OA & specific OAL partners ONLY for Special Equipment services (SPEQ) – based on ABR302
A3/OA communicated with IET partners and bilaterally concurred SPEQ charges in interline itineraries to follow the same rule as baggage policy assuming that SPEQ are filed under Category – C.
SPEQs to be considered part of the provision and subject to 302 and US DoT requirement.
Please be aware that:
- Worldwide apart from itineraries from/to U.S/Canada:
Follow IATA Reso 302 as per MSMC (Most Significant Marketing Carrier).
- For itineraries from/to U.S/Canada:
Follow U.S DoT as per first Marketing Carrier in the ticket.
Attention as the above policy is strictly applied to define the SPEQ charges carrier.
If the baggage carrier (as per MSMC or first Marketing Carrier) is A3/OA, then the policy/charges for SPEQ will be according to the charges reflected below.
The charges will be as per Marketing Carrier from the origin to the next baggage check in point (and always per ticket)
A3/OA agent will issue one single document for all flights from origin up to the next baggage check in point.
Find below a table for your information for the SPEQ agreements in place in interline scenarios where A3/OA is the validating carrier.

Policy between A3/OA & OAL
Until all airlines come up with a common policy for interline itineraries, if A3/OA, as first operating carrier in an itinerary, wants to issue the document and charge the passenger for the service until final destination, then this is possible, as long as the applicable amounts as per each operating carrier policy/charges are charged for the respective carrier segment(s).
- 1st example:
SPEQ service
VC -390/A3
OC- A3 - ATH-FRA
OC- SQ - FRA-SIN
A3 will issue one EMD-A for ATH-FRA based on A3 charges and will issue one paper document (paper EBT), for FRA-SIN based on SQ charges
- 2nd example:
SPEQ service
VC - OAL
OC- A3 - ATH-LON
OC-BA - LON-PHL
A3 will issue one paper EBT (XSB) with A3 charges for ATH-LON and BA charges for LON-PHL
General rules
- Charges are per ticket and from origin up to the next baggage check in point
- Special Equipment (SPEQ, BIKE, WEAP), PETC/AVIH, UMNR/MAAS services are not part of IATA Resolution 302 and/or US DoT and/or Canadian Transportation Agency
- Special Equipment (SPEQ, BIKE, WEAP), PETC/AVIH, UMNR/MAAS services do not fall under any interline rule, which means that for an interline ticket; the charge should be the sum of all operating carrier (involved in the itinerary) amounts for the specific special service as per each carrier’s policy.
- Only for A3/OA with airlines in the table of paragraph 1, the charge will be as per origin to check in point according to Resolution 302 for MSMC and for U.S DoT for U.S/Canada
- Only for A3 and OA operating flights (or A3/OA codeshare flight operating by A3/OA only) UMNR can be also purchased in advance by other Point of Sales (Call center, ticketing town offices, and travel agencies)
- If a passenger informs an agent that they will have one case containing two sets of sports equipment (example two SKI), the agent should inform the passenger that each sport equipment must be carried in a separate case.
Agent should add in the SR, the number of special equipment that passenger will carry in the same case.
- Example:
SR SPEQ NN2-1 SKI 80X60X50/P1
Response:
SSR SPEQ A3 HK2 1 SKI 80X60XIR50.MAX LENGTH 2M-UP TO 32KGS/IF EXCEEDING PLS RQST IT AS SR BULK/S3/P1

Liquids carried in hand luggage – New E.U. security measures
As of 06/11/2006, new security measures will be in effect at all airports in the European Union ( European Commission Regulation 1546/06) regarding liquids carried in hand luggage. According to the new European Regulation, such items (e.g. water, alcohol and beverages, gel, cream, glue, lotion, perfume, shampoo, mascara, lip gloss, hair spray, toothpaste, shaving foam, aerosols, contact lens solution, honey, marmalade, soup, olive oil, any other item of similar consistency) have been added to the list of prohibited articles that passengers may not carry on board, unless conditions are met.
The new regulation is applied in addition to the existing rules for items that are not allowed to be carried on board an aircraft and affects only the liquid items in passenger’s hand luggage and not the checked-in baggage.
Here below you will find useful information and guidelines for passenger’s better and faster service at all airports to which the new rules apply.
Items that can be carried in passenger’s hand luggage:
Liquid items, in individual containers with a capacity no greater than 100 ml. They have to be contained in one transparent plastic re-sealable bag of a maximum capacity not exceeding 1 litre. This plastic re-sealable bag is limited to one per passenger and must be sealed and delivered to Security Screening separately for examination.
Liquids required for medical or dietary purposes and baby foods which are to be used during the trip. Passenger may be asked for proof that they are needed.
Products that are sold in shops beyond the Security Screening points (Duty Free Shops). These products should be placed in a special sealed bag. This special sealed bag, which should be provided by the shop, must not be opened before passengers are screened – otherwise the contents may be confiscated at the checkpoint. If passenger is transferring at an EU airport and in Norway, Iceland and Switzerland they must not open the bag before screening at passenger’s airport of transfer, or at the last one if the passenger transfers more than once. All these liquids are additional to the quantities in the re-sealable plastic bag mentioned above. Security screening staff is obliged to ask passenger to dispose of any liquid products that do not comply with the conditions of the new European Regulation. Such items will be sent for recycling as useless.
